Mike Carp went 5-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI in Tuesday's 5-4 victory against the Twins. The monster game raised his batting average 14 points, from .277 to .291. It was the first five-hit game of Carp's career. He entered the contest hitting only .206 with a .672 OPS in September, cooling off from monster July and Augusts, where he hit .349 (.959 OPS) and .313 (.898), respectively. Keep in mind that most of his success this month came yesterday, when Carp had a grand slam and an RBI double in a rain-shortened game against the Indians. If mixed leaguers stuck with him through his struggles, they are being rewarded handsomely this week.
