Mike Carp has requested to be traded. Carp was a strong bench player for the Red Sox last year, but this season he has a weak batting line of .215/.337/.304 in 95 plate appearances. He feels he could be more productive somewhere else and the Boston front office seems poised to sell some pieces at the deadline.
