Mike Carp (foot) was placed in a walking boot after fracturing his foot. Carp will be in the boot for a week, followed by at least another week of rehab before he begins baseball activities. "We're still a little ways away before he's back to us," said manager John Farrell. Daniel Nava has been recalled from Triple-A Pawtuckett and should split time with Brock Holt at first base in Carp's absence, at least until Mike Napoli (finger) returns.
