Mike Axila of MLB Trade Rumors notes that the Nationals could consider extending Tyler Clippard on a short-term contract. Clippard projects to earn $1.7 million in arbitration as a Super Two qualifier and the Nationals could look to buy out some of his arbitration years on a two- or three-year contract worth about $2-3 million per season. The 26-year-old been extremely overworked in the last couple years, but remains among the best relievers in the game.
