Mike Adams is on schedule for spring training following surgery in October to correct his Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.
Adams has already thrown off a mound three times and will do so again on Thursday. He probably won't pitch until the second week of the Grapefruit League schedule, but there's no need to push it with spring training being longer than usual this year. "It has nothing to do with injury reasons," said Adams. "It's going to be a long spring training. There really is no reason to get 18 innings in the spring. We're going to save some bullets from the very beginning." Adams inked a two-year, $12 million contract with the Phillies over the winter and could be a shutdown set-up man for Jonathan Papelbon.
