Mets signed RHP David Aardsma to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Las Vegas. Aardsma had been in negotiations with the Hanshin Tigers of Japan's Central League but ultimately decided to remain in the United States. The 31-year-old right-hander will try to work his way up to New York. He has made one appearance in the major leagues since the start of the 2010 season due to Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery.
