Mets purchased the contract of OF Marlon Byrd from Triple-A Las Vegas. With the mess that is the Mets' outfield, Byrd probably could have sleepwalked through spring training and still won a roster spot, but he actually fared well at the dish, batting .346/.375/.558 with a homer. He should see plenty of playing time against lefties.
