Mets prospect OF Brandon Nimmo had a big game on Thursday for High-A St. Lucie, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs and two walks.
The 20-year-old is off to a hot start this season, as he's now batting .348/.516/.565 with three extra-base hits and an 8/7 strikeout-to-walk ratio through seven games. Nimmo projects to hit for at least average power at maturity, but so far it's mostly come in the form of doubles and triples. In his full-season debut last year at Low-A Savannah, Nimmo batted .273/.397/.359 with 16 doubles, two home runs and a 131/71 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 110 games. He'll likely require at least two more seasons to refine his game in the minor leagues, but his development of consistent in-game power could potentially have him in the major leagues by the end of the 2015 season.
