Mets optioned LHP Josh Edgin to Double-A Binghamton. Edgin made a valiant effort to make New York's Opening Day roster, hurling 10 1/3 innings of scoreless relief this spring. Even with Tim Byrdak (knee) likely to begin the season on the DL, the Mets opted to give Edgin more seasoning in the minors before they relied on him in Queens. Edgin will be Binghamton's closer to begin the year. Expect to see him up with the Mets sometime over the summer.
