Mets optioned catcher Travis d'Arnaud to Triple-A Las Vegas.
The high-priced guys aren't hitting, so the rookie takes the fall. It's happened a million times before. D'Arnaud had started just seven games since returning from a concussion that put him on DL for two weeks. He hasn't been very good at any point during his major league career, but he also has nothing left to prove in the minors and he remains a better bet than the Mets' alternatives behind the plate. They'll probably start Anthony Recker for now, backing him up with Taylor Teagarden.
