Mets manager Terry Collins indicated after Tuesday's game that he will likely experiment with Jason Bay and infield prospect Jordany Valdespin in center field now that Andres Torres is sidelined with a calf strain. Adam Loewen replaced Torres in Tuesday's game and Josh Satin is already slated to start in center on Wednesday, but Collins wants as many options as possible. Bay hasn't played center field since 2005 as a member of the Pirates while Valdespin has never played the position as a professional. Collins considers Scott Hairston as the primary alternative to Torres, but he's currently working his way back from an oblique strain. If both players are sidelined going into the season, it's likely they'll go with Loewen.
