Mets designated RHP Brandon Lyon for assignment. The Mets signed Lyon cheaply over the offseason, but he disappointed with a 4.98 ERA and 1.63 WHIP over 37 appearances and showed diminished velocity. His ERA was sitting at 3.12 just three weeks ago, though, so the Mets could be able to find someone willing to trade for him. Either way, it shouldn't take Lyon long to find a new home.
