McGowan was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday. McGowan will replace Jake Diekman, who was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday. The Phillies hope to bring Diekman back before long, meaning McGowan's stay in the big-league bullpen could be a short one. McGowan has really struggled this season, allowing nine earned runs and a whopping 16 walks through 14 innings.
