McGehee was designated for assignment in order to make room for Dustin Molleken on both the 25-man roster and 40-man roster. The 33-year-old only had one at-bat with the Tigers, but after hitting .323 with four home runs and 27 RBI at Triple-A Toledo, he could prove valuable to a team looking for organizational depth.
