McGee (knee) threw a bullpen session Wednesday and manager Kevin Cash is optimistic about his reliever returning for Tampa Bay's weekend series against Toronto, Bill Chastain of MLB.com reports.

McGee has made rapid progress since resuming a throwing program on Sept. 11 and is now poised to rejoin the club in the next few days. Manager Kevin Cash noted that McGee's velocity was impressive during Wednesday's bullpen session and followed that by saying that McGee "should be able to go for us in the Toronto series. That will be a tremendous addition."
