McGee (elbow) said his bullpen session Tuesday went well, and he is in line to throw five more such sessions before facing hitters, the Tampa Tribune's R. Mooney reports. His next bullpen is scheduled for Friday, and he will throw 30 pitches again, as he did Tuesday (which was his third bullpen session of the spring). McGee said he is still throwing at 70 or 80 percent as he doesn't want to ramp up his throwing just yet in an effort to avoid a setback. He has started throwing curveballs and plans to implement the pitch more this season. Last year McGee was dominant despite throwing his fastball almost exclusively. It will be interesting to see how his results vary if he becomes a legitimate two-pitch pitcher. At his current pace, McGee won't face hitters until mid-April, meaning he probably won't join the Rays until late-April/early-May.
