McFarland will head back to Triple-A Norfolk and start Tuesday, Jon Meoli of the Baltimore Sun reports.

McFarland was called up for added depth during Saturday's doubleheader, although he never actually took the field. The 26-year-old has 113 MLB appearances over the past four years, but he remains on the fringe of Baltimore's bullpen rotation this season. Despite getting the starting nod for Norfolk on Tuesday, McFarland will still likely be slotted in a bullpen-only role if he rejoins Baltimore later this summer.
