McFarland was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, Rich Dubroff of CSN Mid-Atlantic reports. McFarland was recalled Wednesday, and allowed two runs over two innings in an outing Thursday that has now resulted in a demotion back to Triple-A. The move allowed the Orioles to recall Wei-Yin Chen, who will start Friday's contest.
