McFarland tossed two scoreless innings out of the bullpen in Thursday's 8-1 win over the Dodgers. He gave up one hit and one walk and struck out a batter.
EDGE Analysis
It was McFarland's first appearance since Aug. 20, when he was needed for a spot start against the Twins when Robbie Ray was still on the disabled list with a concussion. With the Diamondbacks' rotation now at full strength and further pitching staff reinforcements to come Friday when rosters expand, McFarland's outings should be limited to mop-up duty in relief during non-competitive games throughout September.
