McFarland (knee) tossed two scoreless innings Monday, allowing a hit with two strikeouts for Triple-A Norfolk.

It was McFarland's first appearance since May 20 when he injured his knee while covering the plate. McFarland was originally slated to start Saturday, but he was scratched in case the Orioles needed bullpen help. The Orioles like McFarland in a swing role, but with Brian Matusz traded he might become a left-handed specialist. As of now Ashur Tolliver is serving in that role for Baltimore, but he is very green having just been promoted from Double-A.
