Mazzaro was designated for assignment Thursday. Mazzaro's demotion comes on the heels of Jarred Cosart's activation from the 15-day disabled list. He will now serve as organizational depth in the minors, but would likely be one of the top options to rejoin the bullpen should another injury occur.
