Matzek pitched 6.2 innings, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five batters before picking up his ninth loss of the year(2-9) in Tuesday's game against the Royals. Even though he picked up the loss, this was one of Matzek's better outings on the year. He now has just six quality outings in his 14 starts in the big leagues. Matzek still has trouble with his control and sports a mediocre 53:30 K:BB ratio in 77 innings pitched. His next start is scheduled for Monday on the road against the Giants.
