Matz was formally recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday, MLB.com reports. As was reported Friday, Matz will make his MLB debut Sunday against the Reds following a dazzling showing at Triple-A this season. The 23-year-old has compiled a 2.19 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 94:31 K:BB ratio over 90.1 innings at one of the Pacific Coast League's harsher environments, creating plenty of optimism about his chances of finding success right away in the majors. Matz will have a good shot at capturing the win in his first start, as the Reds will counter with long-time minor-league journeyman Josh Smith, who was tacked for four runs in three innings in his big-league debut last Tuesday.
