Matz (shoulder) is the probable starter for Friday's game against the Phillies, MLB.com's Anthony DiComo reports.
EDGE Analysis
He looked good in Wednesday's bullpen session and threw "nice and easy," according to manager Terry Collins. The Mets will still have to officially activate Matz in advance of Friday's start, but it sounds like owners can pencil him in to take the ball in that favorable matchup against the Phillies. Considering he hasn't started a game since Aug. 14 and has been unable to go on a true rehab assignment, it's possible he won't be able to pitch deep enough Friday to qualify for a win.
