Matz said he felt some tightness in his left lat/arm during his first start, but he didn't notice it during Sunday's game against the Dodgers, Newsday's Marc Carig reports.
The tightness apparently wasn't much of an issue, as Matz was brilliant in the second start of his career, striking out eight batters over six scoreless innings, with just two hits and two walks allowed. He even added another RBI, though he couldn't match last weekend's heroic 3-for-3, 4-RBI effort at the plate. The lat tightness is worth keeping an eye on, but Matz should be fine to make his final start before the All-Star break, scheduled for Sunday against the Diamondbacks at Citi Field.
Just chance I guess, but this kid knows how to PITCH. Glad I scarfed him up on my two dailies, which are de facto SP-streaming leagues. He looks like a keeper right now, although I cut ties with Syndergaard recently in one league.
Just chance. Matz is special though. Bonafide keeper, although I let Syndergaard go in one league the other day. Scarfed up Matz and will hold onto him as long as he shows the poise and ability to really pitch.
As a mets fan, he has played two really good teams. He started against the reds and the dodgers and gave up two runs that were homers. His control is a little iffy but that could still be nerves. I think these other pitchers (Harvey, degrom, colon) will metro him and syndergaard a bit and help them understand the game. Sy derogate throws much harder than matz but i think they will be equally effective as long as the mets offense can just SCORE.

Why do the mets suddenly score a ton of runs when he pitches?

Didn't mean to essentially duplicate above. This iPad is not functioning as normal lately...probably petering out.

Wheeler? No Gee is i the minors now, niese has been trade bait for a while. They wouldn't trade wheeler.

Starting rotation next year Harvey, Degrom, Wheeler, matz, syndergaard and either colon or niese because of the 6 man rotation
