Matt Shoemaker pitched five scoreless innings and struck out five against the Mariners on Friday. Shoemaker wasn't going to be a September callup until Jered Weaver's absence required the Angels to find another starter. He did well in his spot start tonight, but there's no telling whether he'll be called on again next week.
