Matt Shoemaker improved to 4-1, allowing two runs over eight innings as the Angels defeated the Indians 9-3 on Tuesday. Shoemaker could have gone for the complete game, but a short rain delay before the bottom of the ninth put the kibosh on that idea. The right-hander allowed five hits, walked one, and struck out a career-high 10 batters. Shoemaker now has a 3.83 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP and a 45/9 K/BB ratio in 42 1/3 innings. He has been in and out of the rotation throughout the season, but if Tuesday's outing grants him more time, he'll face the Rangers at home next.
