Matt Lindstrom was charged with a remarkably cheap blown save after inheriting Maikel Cleto's mess in the ninth inning Wednesday against the Red Sox. Cleto, who got the last out in the eighth, was going to get a chance to go for the save in the ninth, but he was pulled from a 3-2 game after walking the first two batters of the inning. Lindstrom came in and retired David Ortiz on a flyball before giving up a soft infield single and a game-tying sac fly. While he did no wrong, it was his third blown save of the young season. Lindstrom preserved the tie from there and pitched a scoreless 10th, so it was a good night for him and a setback for Cleto, who appeared set to get a chance to supplant Lindstrom in the closer's role.
