Matt Holliday had two hits, including a solo home run, helping to lead the Cardinals to a 6-3 victory over the Braves to secure the NL Wild Card. Holliday's solo blast came off Kris Medlen in the sixth inning, increasing the Cardinals' lead to 4-2. The game was completed under protest after an utterly ridiculous call on an infield fly in mid left field stifled a Braves' rally in the eighth inning. The Cardinals have now won each of their last five elimination games, and could be a force to be reckoned with for the remainder of the postseason.
