Matt Garza (lat) played catch Monday, making 25 throws from 45 feet. He had been slated to resume his throwing program Wednesday, so he beat that timetable by a couple days. Garza is hoping his strained lat will only cause him to miss the first couple weeks of the season, but the Cubs aren't expecting him back until May.
