Matt Carpenter went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double, three RBI and three runs scored in the rout of the Angels on Wednesday. If the season ended today, it's Yadier Molina who would get MVP consideration on the Cardinals. Carpenter, though, would also be worthy of a spot on ballots, what with his .324 average, .398 OBP and 63 runs scored. He and Shin-Soo Choo have been the game's best leadoff hitters.
