Matt Carpenter was honored with his first Silver Slugger Award on Wednesday night. It was a pretty easy choice for voters, as Carpenter led all batters not only at the position but in the entire NL in hits, runs and doubles in 2013. It was a big year for Carpenter, who was also named to his first All-Star game. Other winners from the National League were C Yadier Molina, 1B Paul Goldschmidt, 3B Pedro Alvarez, SS Ian Desmond, OF Jay Bruce, OF Michael Cuddyer, OF Andrew McCutchen and P Zack Greinke.
