Matt Carpenter (oblique) has resumed baseball-related activities and is scheduled to take batting practice on the field Thursday. If he continues to progress, he'll begin a rehab assignment in the coming days. Carpenter has been out since May 23 with a strained oblique but should be ready at some point next week if he can avoid setbacks.
