Matt Carpenter made his first appearance of the year it the outfield during Monday's 12-inning game. Carpenter has made 14 starts in the outfield as a major leaguer, so it's not unfamiliar territory for him. Most of those came in 2012, though. He made just one start and one other appearance in right field last year.
