Matt Carpenter hit a solo home run in the Cardinals' loss to the Mets on Wednesday afternoon. Carpenter's leadoff homer in the bottom of the first inning was the only run the Cardinals scored until a failed rally in the bottom of the ninth. Carpenter finished the day 2-for-4, breaking out of a minor slump.
