Matt Cain yielded three runs over 5 2/3 innings Thursday in a win over the Reds in Game 5 of the NLDS. Cain gave up six hits (including a solo home run by Ryan Ludwick) while striking out five, walking two and hitting a batter. He appeared to be on the ropes in the sixth inning, but was bailed out by a strike 'em out, throw 'em out double play. Cain allowed six runs over 10 2/3 innings over his two starts during the series.
