Matt Cain was shelled for nine runs over 3 2/3 innings in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals. Cain was uncharacteristically bad, but we can't image there will be many more games like this. He struggled with command of his fastball and even his breaking pitches were elevated and up around the plate. Cain is a strong candidate to get back on track in his next start Friday against the Cubs.
