Matt Cain was diagnosed Thursday with a Grade 1 right hamstring strain -- the least-severe variety. Cain has not yet been placed on the disabled list and is hopeful of taking his next turn in the Giants' starting rotation. He suffered the minor hamstring strain in the third inning of his start Wednesday in Colorado.
