Matt Cain was charged with one run in seven-plus innings Friday in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks. Bruce Bochy deserves some of the blame for this one. Why send Cain back out for the eighth if you're just going to pull him after a single? Cain had a shutout going through seven, but he was removed as soon as he gave up a hit to A.J. Pollock to begin the eighth. Jeremy Affeldt came in and, after getting two outs, walked Willie Bloomquist and gave up a three-run homer to Paul Goldschmidt, a guy he probably wouldn't have faced had Santiago Casilla been healthy.
