Matt Cain tossed 5 2/3 shutout innings in Monday's 9-0 NLCS Game 7 victory over the Cardinals.

He allowed five hits, walked one and struck out four. Cain actually really struggled the first few innings, but the Cardinals weren't able to capitalize and the Giants' ace eventually settled in. Cain has posted a 3.52 ERA over four postseason outings, though San Francisco would like him to go deeper into the game during the World Series, as he's failed to go six frames in three of four starts. Barry Zito, Tim Lincecum or Madison Bumgarner will start Game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday.
