Matt Cain pitched pretty well but took the loss in Wednesday's NLCS Game 3, surrendering three runs over 6 2/3 frames. He allowed six hits, walked one and struck out two. Matt Carpenter took Cain deep with a two-out, two-run bomb in the third inning, and the Cards tacked on another run with an RBI groundout in the seventh. Cain has now lost two of three starts this postseason while posting a 4.67 ERA. He'll get the ball in Game 7, if necessary.
