Matt Cain fired six innings of two-run ball in a victory over the A's on Wednesday. Cain whiffed four, walked two and allowed five hits in earning his first win since May 15. Entering tonight, he'd gone 0-4 with a 4.65 ERA in seven starts since that date. With that as a caveat, Cain has actually pitched quite well in the very recent past, allowing just four earned runs total over his last three outings. Now 2-7 with a 4.18 ERA, he heads into the break hoping to carry over the momentum.
