MASN's Roch Kubatko speculates that prospect Jonathan Schoop could factor into the Orioles' plans at second base next season. Schoop is expected to open 2013 at Triple-A Norfolk, but has extensive playing time at second base, and could be in line for an early promotion depending on what the Orioles do this offseason. An international free agent in 2009, Schoop batted .245/.324/.386 with 24 doubles, 14 homers, and 56 RBI in 485 at-bats at the Double-A level. Baseball America rated him as the No. 82 overall prospect in their pre-2012 rankings.
