Martinez will not be designated for assignment by the Rays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

With Brad Miller going on the DL due to a right groin strain, Martinez will remain on the Rays' 40-man roster for the time being. The utility infielder hasn't performed well in limited playing time this season, going 5-for-30 from the dish after being acquired form the Indians on May 18. He'll keep his place on the roster while Miller recovers and could even see an increase in playing time, but may very well be delaying the inevitable.
