Martin (shoulder) was able to play catch in the outfield prior to Sunday's game against the Mariners, John Lott of The Athletic Toronto reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's the first time Martin has been cleared to throw since he was placed on the 10-day disabled list a week earlier with nerve inflammation in his left shoulder. Martin throws from the right side, but the Blue Jays had prescribed him full upper-body rest so he wouldn't after to alter his mechanics to compensate for the other shoulder. Martin is eligible to come off the DL on May 18, but it remains unclear if he'll be far enough along in his recovery by that time to play in games. Luke Maile has been serving as the Blue Jays' primary catcher while Martin has been sidelined.
