Marmalejos went 5-for-6 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and five RBI in Double-A Harrisburg's win over Erie on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old started the season on the DL due to a forearm strain but has hit safely in eight of nine games since being activated and now has a .385/.405/.641 slash line. Marmolejos doesn't have the power to profile as a typical major-league first baseman, but he makes good contact and could carve out a career as a bench bat, and might even someday start for a second-division club willing to accept a James Loney-like bat at the cold corner. Given his age and the apparent ease with which he's handling Double-A pitching, expect him to receive a promotion to Triple-A in short order.
