Marlon Byrd remained with the Mets past the trading deadline. New York decided that it valued fielding a stronger team in August and September more than the mid-tier prospect Byrd likely would have yielded. Byrd has enjoyed a career rebirth with the Mets and New York may change their minds about a swap if they can pass him through waivers next month.
