Marlon Byrd (facial fractures) rejoined the Cubs Saturday and appears likely to be activated from the disabled list. "The indications are he's really swinging the bat well and looks good at Iowa so not only is he healthy . but people are commenting on the quality of his at-bats and his performance and you think, 'OK, he's ready to contribute right away,'" manager Mike Quade said Friday. Byrd has been out since May 21, when he was hit in the face by an Alfredo Aceves pitch.
