Marlins purchased the contract of LHP Brian Flynn from Triple-A New Orleans. Flynn will start Wednesday against the Cubs for his major league debut. The 23-year-old left-hander was one of the players acquired in the Anibal Sanchez trade last season and posted a 2.80 ERA and 1.21 WHIP over 138 innings at the Triple-A level. The Marlins designated Jordan Brown for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man roster.
