Marlins designated OF Gorkys Hernandez for assignment. Hernandez failed to earn a bench spot, and since he's out of options will have to pass through waivers in order to report to Triple-A. He offers good defense but batted just .192/.267/.301 across 173 plate appearances last season between the Pirates and Fish.
